Microdermabrasion

  • What are microdermabrasion treatments good for?

Because microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure it can be used to renew overall skin tones and textures. It will improve all skin related concerns and conditions and also improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine line and age spots.

  • How long do you have to wait between microdermabrasion treatments?

Microdermabrasion can be done as frequently as you would like or recommended by your therapist. This will all depend on your skins tolerance and desired effect or outcome you would like to achieve. Ideally a monthly maintenance regime would be best for optimum results.

  • What should you not do after microdermabrasion?

You should avoid sunlight for a few weeks until the pink colour has completely gone away. When outdoors please ensure that sunscreen with SPF of 30 or more is used. After the treatment your face may feel dry and tight for about 24 hours so moisturiser is always highly recommended.

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melisma and other skin related concerns and conditions.

The procedure uses a special applicator with an abrasive surface to gently sand away the thick outer layer of skin to rejuvenate it.

A different microdermabrasion technique sprays fine particles of aluminium oxide or sodium bicarbonate with a vacuum/suction to accomplish the same outcome as the abrasive surface.

The procedure can assist people with the following concerns:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Age spots and brown spots
  • Enlarged pores
  • Blackheads
  • Acne and acne scaring
  • Stretch marks
  • Dull looking skin
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Melasma
  • Sun damage
